**First:** We want to welcome [Allyson Aleksey](https://www.albanyscanner.com/author/allyson-aleksey/), Albany Scanner's **first contract editor and reporter**. You'll be seeing her around town. We're so thrilled to be working with her.

**Second:** We're excited to report that we've secured a **new $10,000 match for a new member campaign**. We'll tell you more in the coming weeks. In the meantime, if you're considering becoming an Albany Scanner member, we hope you'll keep this on your radar.

**Finally:** Launch is imminent, with regular publication **by mid-August.**

In the coming weeks, we'll bring you coverage about schools, elections, arts and culture, housing and more. And we definitely want [your news tips](https://www.albanyscanner.com/tips/).

In the meantime, Allyson noticed that registration for Albany's Fall Activity Guide starts Tuesday (tomorrow!) at 9 a.m. Some options fill up fast.
