New Abrams Claghorn show features 35 local photographers
The gallery's current exhibition follows a rosy theme.
East Bay photographers are looking through rose-colored lenses in a new exhibition at Abrams Claghorn Gallery in Albany.
Work from 35 local artists, from Albany, Berkeley, Oakland and El Cerrito, is featured in the gallery's "On Rose" exhibition, on view now through Oct. 29.
The exhibition is presented by Looking Glass Photographic Outfitters, a Berkeley-based camera supply store and community workshop host.
"On Rose" is Looking Glass Photo's inaugural photo contest exhibition, featuring images that "celebrate our community's creativity and the many ways a single theme can be seen and interpreted."

The theme was widely interpreted — photographers submitted singular portraits, still life captures and action shots, as well as a journalistic photo depicting "Domestic violence in Boise, Idaho," by Maureen Cain.
Albany artist Neocles Serafimidis has work in the exhibition, alongside Berkeley artists Laura Jaeger, Susa Chainey, Petra Liljestrand, Kirsten Lara Getchell, Nina Menconi and more.
Judges Becky Jaffe, Sarah Deragon and Brandon Ruffin selected the top submissions, with "Never a rose without the prick" by Itztli Aspera winning Best in Show.

An opening reception will be held at the gallery from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10.
The reception is open to the public and will give attendees an opportunity to meet photographers featured in "On Rose."
Abrams Claghorn Gallery is located at 1251 Solano Ave. in Albany.
