The "Mr. Albany" clock at Solano and Kains is gone for now — but the story of the man it honored offers a window into the history of the city and its main commercial drag.

"Everyone called him Mr. Albany," Jerome Blank's daughter, Deborah, told Albany Scanner last week. "Even in his last year, he gave everything he had to the residents here. He was just so proud of Albany."
