Help tend Memorial Park’s edible garden Saturday
Gloves, tools and equipment will be provided for the 9-11 a.m. volunteer event.
Albany residents are invited to spend Saturday morning helping spruce up the Edible Garden at Memorial Park.
The cleanup will take place from 9-11 a.m. near Carmel Avenue, 1325 Portland Ave. Volunteers will work on cleanup and stewardship projects while helping maintain the park’s green space.
Friends of Albany Parks, a city-run volunteer program, is organizing the event in collaboration with the Edible Landscape Project, which cares for the area.
Since 2014, friends group volunteers have contributed more than 150 service hours cleaning, beautifying and planning improvements at Albany parks.
The Albany Community Foundation (a Scanner supporter) will provide refreshments and treats for volunteers.
Gloves, tools and equipment will be provided.
The city holds two park cleanups each year at various Albany parks and occasionally partners with community groups for additional events.
